Dragon Quest Series Composer Koichi Sugiyama Dies

The composer of the Dragon Quest series, Koichi Sugiyama, died on September 30 at the age of 90 from septic shock.
The oldest video game composer according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Sugiyama has composed more than 500 songs for the Dragon Quest series, starting with the original game in 1986. His last job was composing the music for the upcoming Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate.

The funeral ceremony for Sugiyama was held by his family and friends. Square Enix plans to hold a memorial service for Sugiyama at some point in the future. However, a date has not been set yet.
